About the Institute

  • Our mission is to teach by word and example the principles and practice of nonviolence, and to foster a community that addresses potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions.

We operate the "Nonviolence Streetworkers" - an acclaimed intervention and outreach program; we teach nonviolence in the schools; and we train adults and youth in nonviolence through our "train the trainer" programs.

DAVID!!!
I can't believe you're gone. I can't believe it was the other day when we had to tell the other person what was their special gift and you told me you were proud of me for how much i have accomplished just having 20 years old; and i remember telling you how proud i was of you for helping those in trouble and everyone around you by even sometimes putting your life in danger. Thanks for sharing with me how much u appreciate me and thanks God for giving me the chance to let you know how proud i am of you and what a great person you are. I guess that there is a saying that is true. Tell the person in life how you feel and think about them before they are gone. Now my heart is in tranquility knowing that I told you all i think of you and that we share special moments like those. Thanks for being a great man to the community, friends and family. You will always be remember in our mind, heart and soul! REST IN PEACE DAVID THE HOMBRE

You were so special to us. Everyone from Central High school is sad for his loss. David was the only person who could understand. Without him now none of us will feel the same. Throughout time he will be missed but never forgotten . David Jr. Cartagena you are an Angel god sent to watch over us and guide us in the right direction. We love you..
