The Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence has been selected as the 2009 Outstanding Philanthropic Organization by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The award will be given at Rhode Island's National Philanthropy Day luncheon on Tuesday, November 24 at the Rhode Island Convention Center.
The Institute is in the company of impressive individuals and organizations who are this year’s National Philanthropy Day Community Award recipients.

Karen Adams, a special Recognition for Outstanding Philanthropic Service to the Community
AFP-RI is proud to announce that we will be honoring Karen Adams, News Anchor from Chanel 12 with a special award this year, Recognition for Outstanding Philanthropic Service to the Community. Karen has served as Master of Ceremonies of National Philanthropy Day in Rhode Island since 2006. She has given of herself to many of the region's nonprofit organizations and deserves the recognition above and beyond the normal kudos.
Connie Worthington, Outstanding Philanthropic Citizen
Presented to an individual or family who has demonstrated outstanding generosity in the service of humankind and has inspired others to become philanthropic and civic leaders. The nominee needs to have made contributions to multiple nonprofit organizations as a donor and/or volunteer.
