As a volunteer at the Nonviolence Institute, you are able to give back to the community you live in. Our volunteers are the backbone of the Institute, working every day to make connections in the community that matter most. Whether you need to fill court-mandated hours, are looking to work for AmeriCorps, or just have a passion for nonviolence, we have a place for you here!
Volunteers are a vital part of what we do at the Institute. We have opportunities ranging from office or administrative roles to tutoring to building maintenance.
Our volunteers can make a difference directly with clients or behind the scenes building and the strengthening the systems that make our work possible.

AmeriCorps members are trained at the Institute on how to live and teach the philosophy of Kingian Nonviolence. They commit to one year of service at the Institute in their assigned department (Development or Training) and work with the staff in that department to build capacity.
Each AmeriCorps member works within their department to fulfill the purpose of a VISTA: work to eradicate poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve as a catalyst for change, living and working alongside community members to meet our nation’s most pressing challenges and advance local solutions.
We offer many opportunities for court-order community service at the Institute.
If you are looking for a worthwhile place to fulfill your community service requirement, we can help. We have no restrictions on our volunteer opportunities for community service.
