INVEST IN PEACE EVENT – SEPTEMBER 26, TEMPLE TO MUSIC
Free and Open to the Public, Join Us as We Celebrate our Beloved Community
Providence, RI (August 24, 2021) – The Nonviolence Institute (NVI) invites you to Invest in Peace by joining us at the Temple to Music in Roger Williams Park on Sunday, September 26, 11am – 3pm. This free family-friendly event celebrates The Beloved Community - one of justice, peace and harmony - that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. envisioned.
Invest in Peace is NVI’s biggest fundraiser of the year and will feature a peace rally, music, a choir, dance, poetry, drumming, and marching bands! There will also be opportunities to learn more about nonviolence and nonviolence training. The Temple to Music will be bustling with food trucks and we encourage attendees to bring picnics and lawn chairs.
At 11am there will be sign-making for children and adults, followed by the Peace Rally and Awards Program. This year we honor community leader Dewayne “Boo” Hackney with the Sister Ann Keefe Award and Edward “Ned” O. Handy III and Washington Trust with the Community Impact Award. These awards are given to accomplished individuals and organizations for their outstanding efforts and contribution to Rhode Island.
We are grateful to all of our sponsors and donors particularly our Lead Sponsor: Ocean State Job Lot and Platinum Sponsors: Amica, Teknor Apex Company, and Washington Trust. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Please contact Kate Anderson, Director of Development at firstname.lastname@example.org.
