The Training Team had the pleasure of working with teachers and students of Hope High School through a grant from Project Embrace. The goal was to train ambassadors in the philosophy of Kingian nonviolence so they will in turn welcome and instruct incoming freshmen and new teachers.
Participants in this 3-day training learned the principles and steps of nonviolence with a focus on the practical integration into the Hope High student body, including:
Conflict resolution
Peer engagement
Communication skills
Community building
Personal values
Creating safe spaces for all to engage
This program lays the groundwork to introduce nonviolence as a preventative measure to not only decrease violence in schools, but also improve teacher and student relationships and foster successful learning experiences.
